Press Release on the Visit of Honourable Minister for Foreign Affairs to Italy

Honourable Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Nepal, participated in the High-Level Ministerial Special Event organized during the ongoing 44^th Session of the General Conference of Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) at its headquarters in Rome, Italy, this afternoon.

Addressing the Ministerial Special Event, the Honourable Foreign Minister called on the global community to act together towards building food systems that nourish our people and protect our future, leaving no one behind. There is a need to build a future where no child suffers from stunting, no mother is left without nourishment, and no community is denied the right to a healthy life, the Honourable Foreign Minister said. While underscoring the need for international partnerships, predictable financing, and accessible technology in securing safe and nutritional food for all people in the world, particularly for those living in the LDCs, LLDCs and SIDs, the Foreign Minister called for scaled-up investment in transforming our food systems, means to adapt to climate change, and the resources to help build the resilience of these group of countries.

Speaking in the different panels of the Ministerial Event, the Honourable Foreign Minister highlighted the efforts made by Nepal in strengthening local food systems and scaling up community-based nutrition programs to secure nutrition for all Nepalis.

The panels were moderated by high-level experts and other senior officials of the Food and Agriculture Organization and were participated by the ministers and high-level government officials from FAO member states, high-level officials from various UN agencies, as well as representatives from the private sector and civil society.   

The Honourable Foreign Minister is scheduled to address the 44^th Session of the FAO General Conference tomorrow. She will also meet the Director General of the Food and Agriculture Organization during her stay in Rome.

Honourable Dr. Arzu Deuba Rana is leading a Nepali delegation to the 44^th Session of FAO Conference being organized in FAO headquarters in Rome, Italy from 28 June to 04 July 2025. The six-member delegation includes the Permanent Representative of Nepal to the United Nations in Vienna and other senior officials of the Government of Nepal.
